In a recent article in the Regis University student newspaper, The Highlander, Seng Center host Jimmy Sengenberger challenged the concept of diversity and existence of a diversity week as espoused at Regis University, where the ideas have been fully institutionalized. The article, entitled “The inherent divisiveness of ‘diversity,’” sparked considerable controversy on campus for its expression of a viewpoint that challenges one of the most widely-expressed and deeply-held values of the Jesuit university.
In Part One of the 12/9 show, and perhaps his most controversial and personal yet, Jimmy stands by and explains his position and engages several listeners, including Student Body President Gus Maxwell, in a dialogue on the article and the mild firestorm it ignited. Find out precisely why it was so controversial and why Jimmy believes what he does…This is one Seng Center you just won’t want to miss!
The goal was to generate an open, respectful dialogue. We feel that objective was achieved. Thanks to all who participated.
